All of life exists in the tension between holding on and letting go. Imagine standing at the edge of a trapeze platform, one hand gripping the bar, the other holding tight to the riser. This position provides a sense of safety, but it also holds us back from experiencing the magic of flight. To truly soar, we must take the leap and trust that we will land safely.
This tension between pushing forward and holding on is at the heart of life itself. It is a constant presence, even if not always at the forefront of our thoughts. Today, this tension is highlighted as Venus, entering Leo, squares the Lunar Nodes in Taurus and Scorpio.
The Lunar Nodes are known as the head and tail of a dragon in ancient astrology. The North Node represents our direction in life, while the South Node signifies what we need to let go of. When a planet squares the nodes, it brings attention to this push/pull tension.
The North Node encourages us to do more, get more, and hold on tighter. On the other hand, the South Node asks us to do less and let go. It’s impossible to do both simultaneously, and even if we try, it’s exhausting. The purpose is to move forward.
With Venus at the bendings, we are prompted to make conscious choices between fear and confidence. The South Node in Scorpio amplifies our inclination to cling to old habits and fears that no longer serve us. We may desperately hold on to a past that no longer aligns with our present or future.
When faced with uncertainty, we often instinctively cling to something familiar, even if it offers no real solace. Similarly, when fear grips us, we may be tempted to retreat and return to our old ways. Going backward can feel safer than stepping into the unknown.
However, planetary squares present an opportunity for growth and transcendence. They generate the necessary friction that propels us forward. In Leo, Venus calls upon us to be brave, bold, and courageous. It urges us to turn away from the fears associated with the South Node and embrace the confidence gained from practical experience.
Embracing confidence doesn’t mean that fear disappears. Fear and confidence can coexist as we move forward. Just like in the trapeze metaphor, standing at the edge with one hand reaching into the future and the other anchored to the past, we find ourselves in the limbo of the push/pull. However, experience has shown us that we will always reach the bar and land safely in the net.
To experience the magic of flight, we must release the grip of our fears, take the leap, and allow ourselves to be carried forward. The tension between holding on and letting go is an essential part of our journey, but it shouldn’t hold us back from embracing our true potential.
